Technical Team Administrator
We’re relay.club, an influencer management platform that connects brands with social media influencers. We’re a small and growing startup that has raised over $350,000 in our first round of funding.

This is an entry-level position that will launch your career in tech, leading to software engineer, technical writer, or product manager.
The basics:
- you can work from anywhere
- we are headquartered in Shanghai and fully remote across Asia (we will stay 100% remote even if the pandemic ends)
- our team self-manages, working asynchronously with no core working hours, using Slack for communication
- we have company video meetings on Monday mornings and Friday afternoons (Singapore time)
- you’ll report to the CTO and meet once a week for a 1:1

Within 1 week, you’ll:
- Complete onboarding and get familiar with our systems and processes.
- Get to know the team.
- Review our systems and processes and make recommendations to correct any gaps or oversights.
Within 1 month, you’ll:
- Set up a system for managing accounts and credentials for various tools and services.
- Set up a system for reporting and resolving bugs.
- Evaluate and recommend an issue tracking or project management platform for managing engineering workload.
Within 3 months, you’ll:
- Create documentation for all new software projects.
- Create an Engineering Handbook for introducing new engineers to our systems and processes.
- Lead assessment and evaluation of key tools, services, or technologies including documentation of conclusions and recommendations.
Within 6 months, you’ll:
- Get to know our business objectives and propose new product features.
- Or, become an expert in a specific technical area such as a security or databases.
- Propose and execute improvements in our software development process.
Within 12 months, you’ll:
- Lead a technical project from inception to finish as a product manager.
- Choose a career path for continued growth.
- Be a mentor for new team members.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain a list of Engineering objectives and key results (OKRs) and report on progress toward each goal.
- Serve as a central point of contact for the team and monitor team availability and current task workload for each team member.
- Maintain budget and obtain approval for any engineering expenses (except salaries).
- Sign up for key tools and services, maintaining a list of all vendors and authorized users and a secure list of current credentials.
- Organize and maintain documentation for all engineering projects and processes in a central wiki or document archive.
- Keep a list of all tools and software versions and plan for any updates or upgrades as required.
- Monitor reported bugs, assign to engineers for follow up, and report on resolution of bugs.
- Keep a list of all proposed improvements to our software development process and report on improvement progress during engineering retrospectives.
- Keep a list of all ongoing assessments of tools, services, or technology and report on evaluation progress.
- Maintain written protocols and procedures for system failures, security incidents, disaster recovery, and data privacy requirements.
Minimum Job Requirements
- 1 year of experience as an intern or staff member in an IT department or on an engineering team.
- Available 30-40 hours/week.
- Excellent English-language proficiency as a writer and editor.
Our Hiring Process
We aim to spend less than 3 hours of your time in interviews and assessments, and we’ll get back to you promptly with a written offer to join the team immediately after your final interview. We realize your time is valuable.
Stage 1
Initial 30-minute discussion with our tech recruiter. Ask her your deal-breaker questions and she’ll tell you why you might want to work for our company.
Stage 2
Submission of a 1 hour writing exercise. Our tech recruiter will give you a technical topic and ask you to write a summary of your research based on what you’ve found online.
Stage 3
Talk to the CTO (Chief Technology Officer) for a “culture fit” interview. You can schedule a 1-hour interview to find out what it’s like working on our engineering team and give us the chance to get to know your style as well.
Stage 4
30-minute with our COO to discuss our expectations for job success and your expectations for job growth.
